[04 Aug 2008|05:02pm]

now that the cancer bullshit is over, its time to start planning our UK trip!!!!!!!!!

on saturday november 8,
hibs play at 3pm at easter road;  scotland rugby plays new zealand at 5.15 at murrayfield
i see the stadiums are about 4 miles apart. and in a perfect world id like to attend both even if it meant missing the end of the hibs game and the start of the rugby match..i think it would make for an awesome day.

assuming we can get tickets, do you think its doable if we catch a cab?

im american, so im just not used to seeing a sponsor on the jersey. especially when the team logo is a quarter the size of the sponsorered logo.  but i understand why its there (sell out to the biggest spender i guess)

so when im in the UK in november, will i be able to find swag without the sponsor's name?  possibly with a bigger team logo? im not against buying bootleg swag if its decent and sponsor-less.

i just think theres something wrong with recognizing a team because of their sponsor instead of their logo..

it became clear to me recently, that, years ago..before i even knew about world football, i knew Hibs.

they were the very first team id ever heard of.
granted, it was through the work of Irvine Welsh, but still counts.

Old news but... [27 Mar 2007|04:22pm]

Who else was infuriated to see O'Connor go (to none other than, what (Lokoshit?) Moscow?). First Riordan then that (at least Riordan went to 'brethren' though for Chrissakes where we could still watch him).

this october, my girlfriend and i are UK bound and we want to see some games!
its a little early but as of right now, i havent a clue how to go about securing tickets. if anybody would be willing to just pass on some info, we would greatly appreciate it.
the only neccessities on this excursion are football games, tall pints, and good scenery..maybe a good concert too

in england, Arsenal is the priority.
Fulham is a backup. though we wouldnt mind seeing any other premiership games as well.. even some lower league teams as well.. (say Sheffield Wednesday....oh and i hear you can tour emirates (or as i call it NewHighbury)

in Scotland, Hibernian is the priority.

in Ireland, i havent a clue. just so long as they serve pints.

in a perfect world, wed see hibs one weekend, Arsenal vs Fulham the next, and coincidentally catch a champions league game on a tuesday..
and i havent even considered how to go about arriving at these locations, but i hear the train is the best mode of transportation..

so any tips of any kind would be greatly appreciated..

Celtic 3-2 Hibs [15 Dec 2005|11:25pm]

[ mood | blah ]

Match Report.

Annoying loss, but what can you do? We gave it a good effort.

Regarding the game against Motherwell this weekend, if you can't make it to the game you could watch it LIVE on Hibs Interactive!! Here's the details. If anybody decides to watch that online you could let me know about the service. I'm pretty interested in what it's like.

I also updated the User Info to include the recent results and fixtures as well as the up to date SPL table. Enjoy.

What a waste of £19! We played well the second half but couldn't find the net. Oh well. Bring on Celtic next week!

Hello All! [01 Dec 2005|02:57pm]

[ mood | accomplished ]

Hi everyone!

I thought I would update with some Hibs news seeing as hopefully as Hibs continue to do well (touch wood) the community will grow a bit. And that'll be helped by regular updates on here!

Major news stuff is the Hibs-Chelsea youth link that seems to be being put into motion by both clubs. Apparently Chelsea will send young players up here on loan for youth development and when they've had experience playing at a high level [SPL, UEFA cup... dare I say it?... Champions League? ;) ] we send them back to Chelsea. Seems like a good idea for both clubs if it works.

Dnipro, our opponents in the UEFA cup earlier this season made a £1M bid for Ivan Sproule which Hibs promptly rejected. Not bad for a player we payed £5k for a couple of months ago, eh?

More recent news? Antonio Murray is back in training after injections in his back; Hibs have become the first team in the SPL to take up short sponsors; Tony Mowbrary won BBC Scotland Manager of the Year; Steven Whittaker won BBC Scotland Young Player of the Year; Ivan Sproule won best individual performance of the year for his hat-trick against Rangers at Ibrox earlier this season; and Hibs now have a dodgy scoreboard at Easter Road.

I updated the User Info to have Hibs' last 5 results and next 5 fixtures as well as the up to date SPL Table!

Anybody going to Dundee this weekend?

After the poor showing against Hearts at the weekend: just what we need!

Not been much activity in the community recently but I'll write an update on things down Easter Road way soon, and update the fixtures in the User Info.

Bye bye for now, Hibees.

Hi everybody! I made a nice banner for promotion of hibsfc. If you would like to promote Hibernian FC and this community, you can put it in your User Info or in your next LJ entry!

If you would like to link to this community from your User Info/LJ you can use this code:

Which will display this lovely banner:

Hi there all!

Nobody has been posting to the community for a while, including me. It's exam time for me at the moment, so I've not had the time, to be honest.

Hibs however, are having a fantastic time. I was at the derby on Saturday and eventhough it finished 2-2, it was a superb day. Especially with the derby of ten days before firmly in the front of our minds.

Anyway, this is just a friendly post to say hi to everybody in the community and to let everybody know that the 2 final games of the season at Easter Road will be very important. If you don't manage to get down to Easter Road regularly, these would be the games to get to! On May 14th it's Hibs vs Aberdeen, which will probably be the 3rd place decider game, with the 2 teams both going for a European place and then on Sunday the 22nd of May (2PM kickoff) it is Hibs vs Rangers. Both games are all-ticket and there should be a superb atmosphere at Easter Road. Hopefully you can make it down there and get behind the Green and White Army!

Just to finish off, here's a humourous joke: How do you know that ET is a Hearts supporter? ....... Beacuse he looks like one!

Dunfermline Athletic 1-4 Hibernian + Away Kit 04/05 First Showing [20 Mar 2005|12:59pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

What an excellent game it was yesterday. If you weren't in Dunfermline supporting the Hibees, you missed out. The first hour was dreadful, to be honest, but 4 goals in the last half an hour isn't to be sniffed at. I'm still on a high from it all! The atmosphere was electric, I'm pretty sure that the Hibs fans almost outnumbered the Dunfermline fans. After the 2nd goal went in, we were certainly louder, too. Getting a wave on demand from Mr Mowbray was a highlight and then one from Mark Venus, too. All the fans who travelled made a real effort and lifted the team. After Fletcher and McCluskey came on, it made all the difference.

On another note, the new Dunfermline pitch seems better than the last one and there is some outside the ground that you can have a look at. It's not as good as grass, obviously, but it's quite soft and there were some sliding tackles going in today, which is more than I can say for the old pitch. It must be strange to play on, though.

And then there was the new away kit announcement. I like it. Click the cut below to see a picture.

Boozy and the 05/06 Away KitCollapse )

Let's hope we can get back on track for that European place. We're 3rd again, but only by one point and in recent weeks our goal difference has taken a hammering. C'mon the Hibees!!
